Black Coffee Society (BCS), is a specialty coffee roasting start-up based in the eastern suburbs of Pretoria, and we wake up every morning to reshape the experience of meeting together around coffee.
Our purpose is to reconnect people. We believe that we can achieve this by reviving the African element of ritual: in this case, through meeting together over a good cup of coffee. In this simple way, we endeavour to give our community ‘a more human face’, as Steve Biko said we would.
Where our coffee comes from is not just about ensuring quality and freshness, but also a connection to the very community we too have grown from. Our coffee is sourced from farms that resonate with our identity, and our society extends to the people who come together over its small-batch-roasted goodness.
